Bradford
Bradford District has a population of approximately 500,000 residents and is expected to have the fastest growing population of any major UK city, a third of the population is in the 60+ age group and nearly a third are children and young people. Bradford has a diverse population with approximately 30% of its residents identifying themselves as belonging to an ethnic minority.
Although 77% of the population live in urban areas Bradford District covers a large geographical area including the towns of Keighley, Bingley and Shipley.
The District faces many challenges with issues of concern to local residents including education, crime, poverty and safety. There is a wealth of resident and community led groups across the District who would welcome the opportunity to be able to influence the decisions which affect their lives and to develop local solutions to address some of these challenges.
ChangeMakers Bradford aims to become the largest citizens’ organisation in the Bradford District with the ability to mobilise local people and to work on issues of concern. We want to ensure that local people have a voice and to create ways for community led organisations to work together to develop strong and effective community leadership.
We are currently delivering a programme of training and are in the process of identifying priorities for action.
